With a tempo marking of “Trending Sultrily,” Forbidden Flute begins with a descending four-note phrase played by the flute, continues with a piano ostinato supporting variations on the theme, and ends as driving rhythms turn the initial phrase into a technically challenging tour de force that is not for the faint of lung.
